P2 MRE

1997
New year, new Evo - and a whole new platform (CN9A) compared to the IIIs. P2 MRE was the first of the long line of Evo IVs, however, she was not the first to debut, as her first rally was the 1997 Rally Sweden with Tommi Mäkinen. After problems with the new sequential gearbox early on, he fought back, but 3rd was the best he could climb up to.

Her next appearance was the Rally Portugal, this time with Richard Burns. The car developed transmission problems again, but Burns wasn't as lucky as Mäkinen was in Sweden: he was forced to retire from 4th on the second day.
The summer brought the Acropolis Rally, the event that turned out to be her last known rally. Paired with Burns once again, things turned out better, as he was able to finish the grueling event in 4th despite his limited experience of the stages.

Whereabouts
It's unknown what happened to her, even she wasn't scrapped in 1997 most probably whe was brought to Kenya as a Safari Rally training car (like P55 MRE was), but if that happened, there's still no info whatsoever where she ended up.
