Mitsubishi had to introduce yet another Evolution as the WRC rules have changed (that's why the car got a new front bumber and rear spoiler), but in reality, the cars in Monte Carlo weren't much different to the previous years' cars, underlined by they fact that S2 and S22 TMR had their first tests as an Evo V! Of course as the year went on and some updates were intruduced, the car got ever more away from the "original" Gr.A rules, but this year it still wasn't as apparent as it was later in 2000/01.
