S33 TMR -just like her sister- didn't turn out to be a mayor success story, although she lasted longer by a year. She, just like almost all the cars with two numbers in her license plate, belonged to Freddy Loix, with a guest star driver as well.
She made her debut in Sweden too, but due to Loix's inexperience, 9th place was the maximum they could get.
Due to Freddy's accident in the Safari, he was out, so Mitsubishi brought on for Portugal then-jobless Marcus Grönholm, who was going really well until the clutch gave up.
She was handling well in Marcus' hands, 1999 Portugal (Mitsubishi) |
Taking a mudbath in GB before reaching the finish in 5th place (Mitsubishi) |
Just like S3 TMR, her only appearance was the demanding Safari Rally. And just like her sister, she couldn't handle the punishment, as the left-rear shock absorber broke, and the distance was too big to drive on three wheels.
The end was near... (Mitsubishi) |
She returned for her last event, the 2001 Safari Rallye as a mint Evo 6.5. Although things still didn't go well (the team even had to change the head gasket), but the efforts were paid off by a 5th-place finish.
On her last event, the 2001 Safari Rally. (Mitsubishi) |
It is not known what happened to her, but she hasn't been seen since 2001, so she most likely had been destroyed, or if not, then... this is the magic about these cars, you can never know, you can meet one you though was demolished; you only have to turn the right corner... ;)
